As a woman, I homestead. With every skill I have learned homesteading, I have found more freedom. “Get back to the kitchen” is supposed to be an insult when directed towards women. I don’t find this insulting. Being in the kitchen is empowering to me. I will gladly spend time in the kitchen cooking, cleaning, and dreaming of the future. I don’t find these activities oppressive. They encourage me to be the best version of myself as I am continually learning to be a homemaker. All of these skills
