Don't underestimate this! This is oral blending. Oral blending is when you can orally blend the sounds together in order to say a word. It is recognising that words are made up of sounds. If your child CAN do this, they will be able to read (if they know their sounds) If your child CAN NOT do this, you need to explicitly teach them this skill and practice it regularly.
