A virtual fly created by researchers at HHMI’s Janelia Research Campus and Google DeepMind combines an anatomically accurate model of the fly’s outer skeleton, a fast physics simulator, and an artificial neural network trained on fly behaviors to mimic the actions of a real fly. Researchers at HHMI’s Janelia Research Campus developed a new way for engineered protein biosensors and bright, fluorescent Janelia Fluor dyes to work together, creating a new sensor for measuring the signals between cells in live animals.
