The New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management announced on Tuesday afternoon it had activated the State Emergency Operation Center in anticipation of expected flash flooding.

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The Navajo Police Department said three families in Shiprock fled their homes on Friday after heavy rain sent water rushing down the San Juan River. The department shared images showing the overflow near the San Juan Bridge.

Flooded roadways were reported across El Paso as rain and strong winds swept through the Borderland, with more wet weather expected through the end of the week.
