CLEVELAND, Ohio — Brayan Rocchio rescued the Guardians from what was shaping up to be a devastating loss Tuesday night. Rocchio ripped a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the ninth inning, flipping a one-run deficit into a 7-6 walk-off win against the White Sox at Progressive Field after Cleveland’s bullpen surrendered a two-run lead earlier in the night.
Cleveland entered Tuesday clinging to a Wild Card spot, and every lineup decision carries weight down the stretch. With DeLauter hitting .289 with 14 home runs, 62 RBIs, and a .815 OPS this season, getting him back to full strength means the most towards keeping the Guardians’ October hopes alive.
