A local official says a federal immigration agent has shot and wounded a man in Austin, Texas. City Councilmember Mike Siegel says the Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer rammed the man’s car then got out of his federal vehicle and opened fire at least five times.

The shooting in Austin, which injured Wilber Rafael Garces Perez, came more than two months after an ICE officer fatally shot a man in Houston.

The Austin ICE shooting drew protesters more than 200 miles away.

A federal immigration agent shot and wounded a man on Sunday in Austin, Texas, authorities said. The shooting occurred shortly before 1 p.m. local time on the city's north side. Chief of Austin-Travis County EMS Robert Luckritz said at a Sunday news conference he believes the man was shot once in the torso and that he was still in serious condition.

At least 28 people have been shot at by federal immigration agents since last year, including Sunday's ICE shooting in Austin.
