By Sheila Dang and Ashitha Shivaprasad HOUSTON, June 16 (Reuters) - Potential Tropical Cyclone One has formed off the Texas coast, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said in a Tuesday advisory, warning of heavy rainfall and dangerous flash flooding along the energy corridor that includes major offshore drilling and refining assets.

Galveston officials are urging residents to prepare for heavy rain, gusty winds and possible flooding as Potential Tropical Cyclone One moves along the Gulf Coast this week. The City of Galveston said Tuesday that emergency officials continue monitoring a series of storms expected to impact the island over the next several days.
