Protesters gather in downtown Chicago to oppose ICE operations
Protesters gathered late Tuesday afternoon in downtown Chicago to demonstrate against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The Administration has also sought to crack down on crime in major cities such as Washington, D.C., and Memphis. Trump has long railed against crime in Chicago, calling it a “shooting disaster” as far back as 2013 and repeatedly pointing to gun violence in the city.
CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chopper 7 was over a crash involving a dump truck on Wednesday morning on the inbound Kennedy Expressway. The crash happened around 6 a.m. on the inbound I-94 lanes near Monroe Street, video from Chopper 7 shows. Illinois State Police said the crash happened at about 5:32 a.m. at Madison.
Trump has called the expansion of federal immigration agents and National Guard troops into American cities necessary, blasting Democrats for crime and lax immigration policies.
Thousands are expected downtown for a rally against Trump administration policies, particularly the aggressive deportation campaign that has deployed federal agents and troops to the city.
