The Dallas Mavericks have agreed to sign veteran guard D’Angelo Russell to a two-year contract worth $13 million.

The Dallas Mavericks agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal, a player option on the second year, with D'Angelo Russell on Monday, soon after free agency opened. Dallas hopes he can be the right stopgap until Kyrie Irving returns from his ACL surgery in January or February.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Mavericks signed D'Angelo Russell to a two-year contract worth $13 million on Monday. Dallas used the $5.685 tax mid-level exception to sign Russell and the team is now $1.6 million below the second apron, per ESPN's Bobby Marks.
