Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff didn't rule out the possibility that goaltender Connor Hellebuyck could remain with the team after going public with a trade demand. The Jets formally suspended Hellebuyck on Wednesday for failure to report to training camp.

With Connor Hellebuyck suspended and desperate for a transfer weeks before the preseason starts, general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff refuses to be emotional over the whole matter treating it with logic.

Hellebuyck has a full no-movement clause and five years left on a seven-year contract with an average annual value of $8.5 million. Hellebuyck backstopped the Jets to the NHL's best record in the 2024-25 season and was rewarded with the Hart Trophy as league MVP as well as his third Vezina Trophy as top goalie.
